Apps in Landscape Mode

Disclaimer: Any of the hacks on this site could damage your phone and possibly void your warranty, not to mention is possibly a terms of service dealbreaker for your mobile carrier

So the original idea here of bending the phone against the hinge works, but you'll cringe every time you do it scared of snapping the hinge -- Here is a BETTER WAY

You can do it without bending your phone against the hinge to the point you think its going to break!

Apps in landscape mode - "No risk of breaking the hinge method!"

Note this works for Downloaded Apps but not the built-in browser, however why use the built-in browser when you can download and use Opera Mini!. Chances are you'll want to get rid of the Network Nag before opera mini will be usable
  1. Open your phone in portrait mode.
  2. Navigate to the downloads menu, but dont hit yet yet
  3. Put your finger on the 'OK' button, and close the phone as far as possible on your finger
  4. Click the 'OK' button on the download menu, quickly remove your finger, close the phone and re-open in landscape mode

Eh voila! all your apps in landscape mode!

Here's a video proving that it works! (i'll try to make a better quality video soon)

Subject: RE: use the RAMKIN site
I was curious as to what site you are referencing. I can't get the darn "finger" trick to work

I figured out how to open applications in landscape. You just need to save them into IM & EMAIL folder. As in, when u use the RAMKIN site. U just save to other folder and type in IM & EMAIL because that folder shows up in landscape... NO trying to hit the button and turn the phone.

Subject: bell store
hahah thats awesome, make sure you tell all your customers about how to do it... even though the bell higher-ups decided to be stupid and cripple the phone, the customers will appreciate customer service reps that are actually useful!

Subject: landscape mode trick not working
I just got the phone with Bell Mobility and I've attempted this about 40 times with no luck. I think bell has disabled this trick somehow on their new phones. All that happens is it briefly displays please rotate back, then the normal landscape screen with favourites and contacts is displayed. If some one has other info please report. Thanks.

Subject: shut of too? nope something else happens
my phone appears to shut off - but it actually isnt off - there's something wrong with the backlight, it never turns back on again regardless of keypresses, i note this happening all of a sudden using the media player too. Only fix for that is turning the phone off/back on/ or taking battery out

As long as you press OK (or 7) while the phone is closing fast and less than 45 degrees, you're good to go. You can even wait 5 seconds before opening it and you'll still be in the downloads menu.

Subject: awesome
that worked awesome! thanks! i'm just wishing their firmware update would allow for landscape browsing...

Also, if you have chubby fingers (you shouldn't have this phone anyways), you can always press 7 instead of the OK button when you do this trick.

Also, people should know that if you don't get this right, your phone might actually shut off. Can be a pain if you're having trouble getting this trick to work.

Wow, you are the best!

Subject: awesome but man it's something i need practice on hah
Well, i tried this 20 times and by the 20th time my hands were sweaty and i had only accomplished the timing right twice... could you upload a new video and with your voice cue the point of time you press the ok button and do the close-open step...
