So everyone is saying how you have to call up Bell and beg/trick them into giving you the number... NOT TRUE!

Head on over to www.cdma-ware.com and download the DEMO version of "CDMA-Workshop". Current version as of writing this is 2.7.0. Yes its a trial, and the real version costs real money, but hey, you only need this program for all of 15 seconds.

So download, unrar it, you end up with a .exe, just run it (hey, running untrusted .exe's downloaded off the web is fun right?)

On the "Main" Tab, under the "COM Settings (AT mode)", choose the COM port for your phone (if unsure, go check in control panel->system->hardware->device manager->com & lpt ports. If your COM port for the modem isnt available, maybe you need to Install the driver)

At the bottom, click on the "Connect" button, it'll connect to the phone, but you wont see any data yet.
Now click on the "Read" button (right beside "Connect") and wait a few secs.. now all the info will populate

Click on the "Security" tab across teh top
The top-right box should be "SPC"
Leave the dropdown at "Default (nv_read)"
Click on the "Read" button
Eh Voila! There's your SPC, now write it down and you can exit out of CDMA-Workshop

Subject: Workshop 3.3.5
Version at time of writing this was workshop 3.3.5, and it worked fine, with one exception. Device must be on com1. this is a restriction of the demo version. My com driver defaulted to com10. The driver can be re-configured from device manager to become com1.

Subject: Failed.. Phone Does not answer
I did everything, and I got the right COM port, port 4, I pressed read, but the following message came up "Failed..Phone does not answer" and so I tried changing the baud rate to what the modem in the device manager is set to (230400)(that's its maximum port speed) and that got the same message, so I tried a few other baud rates, and nothing worked. Anyone got any suggestions?

Subject: CDMA Workshop
It has no viruses inside. CDMA Workshop is highly protected and has protection code inside, which is detected as a virus, read there - http://www.oreans.com/kb/?View=entry&EntryID=17

Subject: cdma-ware not working?
I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong here. I've tried downloading several versions of the cdma-ware from the website linked here. AVG keeps finding the .exe to be a trojan and I cannot run the program, i get permission errors. I'm using windows xp. I've never run into this with any other program I've tried installing.

Actually, you don't really have to beg to Bell to get your SPC. Just call 1-877-DATA-123, get an agent, and tell them you just got a new phone but it wasn't programmed properly. Tell them you have the programming instructions from www.userguides.ca but you just need the 6 digit lock code. You will be put on hold while they get you the code.
